LIFE READY PROGRAMS

The first step doesn’t have to be the hardest: Starting your own psychotherapy with IOSS

Psychotherapy is no longer as unknown or uncommon as it used to be. While it can go by other names–talk therapy and therapy–this mental health service has become one of the starting points in exploring and discovering the self.

However, it’s not without its hurdles. There’s a difference between knowing about it and actually taking part in it. And for many, the most difficult step is often the first one: deciding if it’s for you.

Life Ready recognizes this challenging step, which is why we have developed the Insight Oriented Support Service, or the IOSS program. Whether it is your first time going into therapy or you feel you need a check-in with your mental health, this has you covered.

Let’s see what it’s all about.

What is the IOSS?

Insight-oriented Support Service or IOSS is Life Ready’s approach to a more structured and specialized experience of psychotherapy. While psychotherapy aims to provide a meaningful deep-dive into one’s experiences for better understanding and integration of mental health, oftentimes, time and resources can be very real limitations for some clients.

As such, the IOSS is a tool for quick exploration and insight inference. It also provides an avenue for psychoeducation and skill-building, so that individuals can have their respective takeaways that can be applied and practiced in daily life.

Since Life Ready also believes in providing a good training ground for the practice, the IOSS is also established to help train psychologists-in-training and to challenge senior psychologists in improving their supervision and mentorship capabilities.

IOSS is predominantly run by psychologists-in-training under the guidance of licensed psychologists under Life Ready.

Who is it for?

Just like psychotherapy, Life Ready’s IOSS is open and beneficial to everyone who wants to get started on their mental health journey.

Want to do a quick check-in on the state of your mental health? Need a debriefing following a very stressful time at work? Feel like you might benefit from having a space to process school-related worries or concerns over the semester? Going through a relational challenge or crisis? Want to get started on taking care of your mental health but don’t know where to start?

Start here, with IOSS.

How do I get started?

Because of its brief and structured nature, Life Ready ensures that the focus of IOSS is appropriate to the needs of the clients so they can better harness its benefits.

IOSS begins with a pre-assessment to ensure that your concerns can benefit from a brief and structured approach to processing. Once this is cleared, a client will then be assigned to a psychologist-in-training for the sessions.

The space can be treated as any psychotherapy space–a place for exploration, processing, and understanding. It’s also a space to potentially learn new skills or plan a practice that can be done in relation to the concern. After all, psychotherapy is the practice run, but the actual experience of living occurs in one’s day-to-day life.

Typically, the experience of psychotherapy involves a lot more steps and nuances, but given the need and encouragement to do a regular check-in with the self, the IOSS may be a good place to start.

There’s no trouble or issue that isn’t worth exploring or resolving. When your problem feels like an in-between–not too intense, but still troubling for your day-to-day, or heavy enough that your usual practices can’t bring you back to your baseline, then maybe this is where to begin.

Wipe the lens that you see your life through–just so you can still see clearly as you push forward another day.
